This is Kusuriuri (the medicine seller) from the anime "Mononoke" (no, not "Princess Mononoke"). I totally recommend watching Mononoke, it's really, really good (but too short T^T) :heart:

In the original sketch, Kusuriuri-san had his sword in his left hand. I used hours trying to draw an exact replica of the sword...but in the end I decided that it didn't fit in with the picture so I left it out ^^; You can see the sketch here.

I didn't use any shading in the picture, because they don't seem to use any shading in the anime, either. I used stock photos for the kimono patterns.

Actually, all the details and pretty colors in this pic are only part of my plot of distracting you from the fact that THE DRAWING ITSELF SUCKS SO BAD OMG *EPIC FAIL* XDDD;;;;

I think the drawing is just fine, however the "distracting" colors and patterns are freakin sweet @__@

Rather crappy that you spent so much time on a sword you left out though =/ But at least the resulting pic is pretty~! =D

what program did you use to put in all the pretty patterns? I love the movie Mononoke, i hope to get it one day. you did a lovely job on this!~

I used Photoshop, and I found the patterns from Shibori Dragon.

Ah, the Mononoke TV anime is not the same as the "Mononoke Hime" movie if that's what you meant (?) ^^

Uuuh just kun itsekin hurahdin Mononokeen ja sen visuaaliseen ilmeeseen :heart: en kyllä tämän rinnalla kehtaa enää alkaa omaa fanarttia väkertämään kun tämä on sen verran komea.

(mistä muuten saa high-res kimonotekstuureita o_O?)

Mä käytän tekstuurina yleensä Shibori Dragonin kimonokuoseja. Suurin osa kuvista on melko pieniä (käytän niitä pieniin yksityiskohtiin), mutta siellä on joukossa muutamia valtavia kuvia, jotka on ilmeisesti unohdettu pienentää XD
